Whilst most were busy getting into the flow of Christmas 2015, I was spending an enchanting afternoon with 8 Northumberland for the big reveal of their plans for Christmas 2016!

The afternoon began with a walk around the theme for this year’s festivities, the Gatsby-inspired glamour and decadence for A Vintage Affair in the Ballroom, and traditional, snow-covered Christmas Market for A Winter’s Avenue in the Old Billiard Room and Annex.

Next up came the big 2016 taster and launch, eagerly awaited after receiving a few cryptic clues in the lead up the event…

There will be two fantastic themes for 2016, The Enchanted Forest and House of Clues…

The event began with guests searching for a number of hidden clues beneath canapés such as Mrs White’s fish pie and Miss Scarlet’s smoked salmon blini…

Once the clues had been identified a delicious lunch was served with ingredients sourced from The Enchanted Forest: a Game roll served with chestnut mash, pickled wild mushrooms, crisp parsnips, pancetta braised Brussel sprouts, red currant jus and red currants…

Finishing off with one of the best dessert tables I’ve seen in a while…

A fantastic afternoon, 8 Northumberland once again surpassed themselves with some amazing food, as is to be expected with Mr Charles Boyd at the helm, but also with some really well thought out and original themes for Christmas 2016.

Absolutely a must if you are looking for something a little different next year and with a definite WOW factor.
